Baby Steps - Baby & Child First Aid Course
This week I was lucky enough to attend a Baby & Child First Aid Course, run by the lovely Katherine at Baby Steps.
The two and a half hour course took place at Baby Steps HQ which is a cosy studio nestled away in Katherine’s garden, located just off the A3 in Hindhead. Driving from Guildford, it only took me 25 minutes and was super easy to find.
When I arrived, I was immediately made to feel very welcome and there was a lovely selection of drinks and homemade muffins. There was 8 of us in the class, plus a couple of babies, and the relaxed environment meant that those with babies didn’t have to worry about feeding, changing etc.
As a paediatric nurse and health visitor, and parent to two children, Katherine was very knowledgeable and explained things really clearly. The course covered everything from emergency first aid, to illnesses, to how to safe proof your house. We also all received a goody bag with lots of useful information and a first aid manual for future reference.
As a mum to a toddler, and with another one due in February, I found the course invaluable and it has given me the peace of mind that I know what to do. I would highly recommend this course to anyone that has a little one, takes care of a little one, or has a little one on the way.
Courses can also take place in the comfort of your own home, so if you have a group of friends who could benefit from the course do get in touch with Katherine or visit the Baby Steps website.

P.S. Baby Steps also run weaning courses, which I can’t wait to go along to when #2 has arrived!
